Ajinkya Rahane during a training session for India
Out-of-favour Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane is set to join Mumbai’s off-season camp at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) indoor nets facility at the Bandra Kurla Complex.
As per a report, Rahane was one of the 47 cricketers selected by Mumbai for the fitness camp, which is slated to begin either on Monday or Tuesday next week.
Fit-again Rahane returns to competitive cricket
The 34-year-old sustained a hamstring injury during a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in this year’s Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022) season. The Indian veteran also lost his spot from the Test side earlier this year.

While speaking with the Times of India, Mumbai chief selector Salil Ankola said:
“Rahane has come back from the National Cricket Academy (after recuperating from the injury). He’s fine now. I met him recently. The presence of senior players like him will help youngsters in the camp”.
Ajinkya Rahane’s career so far
The Mumbai-based cricketer made his international debut in 2011 with a T20I in England. So far, the right-hander has featured in 82 Tests, 90 ODIs and 20 T20Is for India. However, due to a form slump, he was dropped from the Indian set-up following a Test series defeat in South Africa earlier this year.
He missed India’s subsequent home series against Sri Lanka and the rescheduled fifth Test in England.
