Sarfaraz Khan is clearly enjoying a dream run in the Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025, and his latest performance has once again proved his explosive batting skills. Playing for Mumbai, Sarfaraz delivered a breathtaking knock against Haryana at the DY Patil Cricket Stadium on December 13, scoring his fastest fifty of his SMAT career.
Sarfaraz walked in to bat at number three after Mumbai lost Ajinkya Rahane, who was dismissed for 21 runs. From the moment he arrived at the crease, Sarfaraz looked confident and fearless.
Sarfaraz and Jaiswal destroy Haryana in Powerplay blitz
Partnering with Yashasvi Jaiswal, he launched a fierce attack on the Haryana bowlers. The duo played aggressively right from the start, turning the power play into a nightmare for the opposition. Mumbai raced to a massive 101 runs for the loss of just one wicket in the first six overs.
Notably, the highlight of Sarfaraz’s innings came in the 7th over. On the final ball of the over, bowled by Samant Devender Jakhar, Sarfaraz cut a short-of-good-length delivery outside off stump straight to the backward point boundary. That shot took him to his fifty in just 18 balls.
However, Sarfaraz eventually scored 64 runs off just 25 balls before getting out, leaving a strong impact on the game.
Earlier in the match, Haryana posted a huge total of 234 runs after Mumbai chose to bowl first. Ankit Kumar starred with an impressive 89, while Nishant Sindhu remained unbeaten on 63. For Mumbai, Sairaj Patil was the standout bowler, picking up two wickets.
It is worth mentioning that this season has been outstanding for Sarfaraz Khan. In six innings, he has scored 250 runs at an impressive average of 83.33 and a blistering strike rate of 181.16.
Such consistent performances could not have come at a better time, especially with the IPL 2026 auction approaching. Notably, Sarfaraz has registered himself for the auction with a base price of ₹75 lakh, and his current form is sure to attract attention from franchises.
