Following two consecutive defeats in the three-match T20I series against Pakistan, Bangladesh have dropped to 10th place in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings. Before the series began, Bangladesh were ranked ninth but slipped below Afghanistan after their 57-run loss in the second T20I at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 30, 2025.

The Bangladesh tour of Pakistan, held from May 28 to June 1, 2025, has been a challenging affair for the Tigers. In the first T20I, Pakistan posted a strong total of 201/7, powered by skipper Salman Ali Agha’s 56 and explosive contributions from Hasan Nawaz and Shadab Khan.

Bangladesh’s chase faltered despite promising starts from Litton Das (48) and Tanzid Hasan (31). The middle order collapsed under pressure, with spinners Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali dismantling the lineup, bowling Bangladesh out for 164.

Bangladesh's Misery Continues In 2nd T20I

The second T20I saw a similar pattern. Pakistan again batted first, scoring 201/7, with Salman Ali Agha and Hasan Nawaz leading the charge. Bangladesh’s batting lineup showed flashes of resistance, with Tanzid Hasan scoring 31 and Jaker Ali contributing 36. However, regular wickets and tight bowling restricted Bangladesh to 144, handing Pakistan a 57-run victory.

These back-to-back defeats have not only dented Bangladesh’s confidence but also impacted their ICC rankings. The Tigers now face an uphill task to regain form and climb back up the rankings ladder. The final match of the series on June 1 offers Bangladesh a chance to avoid a whitewash and restore some pride.
