The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made three big signings to boost its cricket operations, including bringing in former ICC anti-corruption boss Alex Marshall. The announcements came after a board meeting in Dhaka on Saturday.

The BCB held a board of directors meeting in Dhaka on August 9 to discuss reformative measures. The meeting was attended by several high-profile individuals who reached consensus on important agendas.

BCB Makes 3 Big Appointments

According to ESPN Cricinfo, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has signed Alex Marshall, Tony Hemming and Julian Wood to strengthen their cricket setup.

Alex Marshall, who led the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit until September 2024, will now work with the BCB as a consultant for one year. His main role will be to strengthen the board’s anti-corruption department, which is currently investigating match-fixing allegations from the 2024-25 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Dhaka Premier League.

The BCB has also signed Julian Wood as a specialist batting coach for three months. Wood is known for his expertise in power-hitting and has previously worked with Sri Lanka Cricket.

Another familiar face is returning, Tony Hemming, who served as BCB’s curator from July 2023 to July 2024 before moving to the Pakistan Cricket Board. Hemming has now been reappointed as head of turf management for two years, overseeing all international venues and curators in Bangladesh. He will also train local curators.

Bangladesh Add New First-Class Team

In another major development, the BCB has added Mymensingh as the newest first-class cricket team. The side will replace Dhaka Metropolis in the National Cricket League (NCL). Dhaka Metropolis was introduced in 2011 to make the number of teams even. Mymensingh, one of Bangladesh’s newest divisions, will take part in all divisional tournaments. However, they will join the NCL T20 competition only from the next edition due to scheduling constraints.
