Former Australian left-arm wrist-spinner Brad Hogg has stirred up discussions in the cricketing world with his bold assertion that Indian cricket stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should form the opening pair for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, slated to be held in the West Indies and the USA in June this year.

Hogg believes that deploying Kohli as an opener could unlock his full potential, capitalising on his skills against the new ball and exploiting the fielding restrictions during the powerplay overs.

Additionally, he emphasises the importance of having experienced campaigners like Rohit and Kohli at the crease, asserting that their stability could set the stage for explosive finishes towards the backend of the innings.

Here's what Brad Hogg said on Virat Kohli:

"If Virat Kohli is playing in the T20 World Cup, I would like to see him opening the batting with Rohit Sharma. That's where I think he can get the best out of him with the fields up and he can use the pace. At the backend, if you have one of Rohit or Virat batting through the innings, you could have perfect stabilization."

Kohli, who recently made his T20I comeback at No. 3 against Afghanistan, showcased glimpses of his batting prowess with a quickfire 29 off 16 balls. However, his subsequent dismissal for a golden duck in the following match highlighted the unpredictability of T20 cricket.

With Kohli's impressive track record in T20Is, including being named 'Player of the Match' in 15 games out of 115 matches and amassing 4008 runs, his role at the top of the order could provide stability and firepower to India's batting lineup.

Despite his recent absence from the Test series against England, Kohli's potential impact in the T20 World Cup remains a subject of great anticipation and speculation.
