Australian cricket fans may have to wait a bit longer to see promising talenting action during the upcoming Tests against New Zealand, as the young fast bowler is currently facing uncertainty due to a side strain he suffered while playing against the West Indies.

Australian promising young talent Lance Morris made his much-awaited ODI debut against West Indies in the series opener last week.

While his first outing was wicketless, Morris justified the hype around him by producing a roaring comeback in the third and final ODI of the three-game bilateral series.

Lance Morris removed Keacy Carty and Teddy Bishop, completely dismantling the struggling West Indies' batting lineup as they succumbed to an all-time low total of 86 runs.

Having said that, Morris’ extraordinary run was cut short due to an unfortunate injury scare. In his fifth over of the spell, the pacer complained of pain in the left half of the body and was taken off the field.

Later, the fast bowler iced the area of discomfort and was accordingly ruled out for the rest of the game.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia issued a crucial statement to confirm the diagnosis of a left side strain. Morris will undergo scans to determine the exact severity of the injury.

Having said that, Lance Morris’ injury has come at the worst possible time. The pacer was in the scheme of things for the upcoming two-game Test series against New Zealand scheduled for later this month. However, it’s now unclear if Morris will recover in time for the said series.

The 25-year-old Aussie pacer showed flashes of brilliance in domestic cricket as well as T20 leagues to earn his place in the national team. However, the unforeseen injury setbacks are likely to derail his growth as his imminent future hangs in the balance.
