Babar Azam is known for his consistency across formats, and now in the second T20I against England, he reached another important batting milestone by overtaking Rohit Sharma in the list of highest run-scorers in T20Is. Virat Kohli is at the top of the list with 4037 runs in the shortest format of the game.
Babar Azam scored 32 off just 26 balls and now has 3987 runs in 111 innings in T20Is. He has scored his runs at a strike rate of 129.91 and has now more runs than the current Indian captain Rohit Sharma who has 3974 runs to his name.
The Pakistan skipper will play two more T20Is before the T20 World Cup, and has the chance to go into the marquee tournament as the leading run-scorer in the format. He is just 50 runs behind Virat and it would be an interesting battle when all these top-three run-scorers go head-to-head on 9th of June in the high-octane India-Pakistan clash at New York.
Babar Azam has scored most of the his runs as an opener in T20Is but now he is batting at number 3, and it would be interesting to see how he goes about his business in the all-important T20 World Cup.
