Australian women’s team pulverised their English counterparts by an innings and 122 runs on Day 3 of their one-off Ashes Test match at the MCG. Annabel Sutherland won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for punching out a majestic 163 to fuel Australia’s 440-run total. Beth Mooney also struck a regal century as the hosts gained a huge 270-run lead over England.

Alana King, who picked up four wickets in the first English innings, added five more to her tally to claim nine wickets in the match. Ashleigh Gardner also picked up a scintillating four-wicket haul on Day 3 as Australia completed a 16-0 sweep over England in the 2025 Women’s Ashes series.

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir has backed struggling batting legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. While speaking at the BCCI Awards 2025 ceremony in Mumbai, the former cricketer signified the importance of Sharma and Kohli to the team, even though the two batting icons are currently undergoing one of the worst phases of their playing careers.

Both Sharma and Kohli are slated to reprise their ODI roles for Team India in the upcoming home series against England, and in the 2025 Champions Trophy later this month in the UAE.

Australian women’s captain Alyssa Healy is all set to miss the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season in India. As per Cricbuzz, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter has opted to take rest following the stress fracture she sustained on her foot during last year’s Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE.

Alyssa Healy was originally slated to lead the UP Warriorz franchise. The WPL 2025 season is scheduled to launch from February 14 onwards in Vadodara with a match between Gujarat Giants and defending champions RCB.

Wriddhiman Saha Pens Emotional Retirement Note

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha penned an emotional retirement note after playing his final match in competitive cricket. The 40-year-old played Bengal’s Elite Group C Ranji Trophy match against Punjab at the Eden Gardens to bring curtains down on his illustrious career.

The cricketer played 142 first-class matches, including 40 Tests for India between the years 2010 and 2021. Moreover, the seasoned stumper also played 170 IPL matches for five different franchises, and was part of an IPL-winning team on two occasions, once in 2011 for CSK and again in 2022 for Gujarat Titans.
