Gulf Giants completed a seven-wicket routing of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders to make a big leap on the points table in match number 27 of the ILT20 2025 season at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. In a collective team performance, fast bowlers Chris Jordan and Mark Adair stood up to the occasion in their final league match before Gerhard Erasmus anchored the run-chase for the Giants.

Here’s the timeline of how Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Gulf Giants panned out in Abu Dhabi:

Knight Riders vs Giants Highlights: Gulf Giants Pacers Engulf Knight Riders Top Order

Abu Dhabi Knight Riders openers Kyle Mayers and Andries Gous both made their way back to the sheds within the first three overs for six-ball singles courtesy of Daniel Worrall (1-13) and Mark Adair respectively. Roston Chase at number three looked confident in his 17-ball 15 before nicking one towards wicketkeeper Jordan Cox off Blessing Muzarabani (1-27) at 26-3 in seven overs.

Joe Clarke bided his time at the crease, taking 27 deliveries to score just 13 to take the Knight Riders past the 50-run mark. However, a chip towards Tim David at mid-on off Chris Jordan accounted for his downfall in the 13th over of the innings as the Knight Riders crashed to 55-4.

Knight Riders vs Giants Highlights: Willey, Sharafu Add Crucial Runs In Slog Overs

Tottering at 55-4, soon to be 79-5 with the dismissal of Andre Russell to Tom Curran (1-36), David Willey at number five muscled four sixes and a boundary in his fighting 29-ball 41 during the middle overs.

Mark Adair (2-25) and Chris Jordan (2-20) eventually doused Knight Riders’ rising hopes with the quick wickets of Willey and Jason Holder respectively. Alishan Sharafu (21* off 13) and captain Sunil Narine (12* off 12) batted out the remaining four overs of the innings to steer the Knight Riders 123-7.

Knight Riders vs Giants Highlights: Erasmus Overcomes Early Setbacks To Lead Easy Giants Win

Gulf Giants skipper James Vince and number three batter Jordan Cox were both dismissed in succession by Abu Dhabi Knight Riders fast bowler David Willey. At 23-2, Vince’s opening partner Gerhard Erasmus batted on for the next 10 overs of the innings alongside Tom Curran to take the Giants to the brink of the 100-run mark.

Erasmus made 47 runs from 51 balls with six boundaries and a six before a mistimed shot off Jason Holder accounted for his downfall. Nonetheless, Curran forged a calculated 38* from 35 balls with three boundaries and a six while fellow unbeaten star Shimron Hetmyer made 20* off 11 as the Gulf Giants cantered itself to a comfortable seven-wicket win with more than two overs to spare.

The outcome helped the Giants jump back to the playoffs reckoning by gaining three rungs to occupy third spot on the ILT20 2025 points table.
