In a stunning moment during the Women's Ashes 2025, Darcie Brown showcased her brilliance with a delivery that had shades of the legendary James Anderson. This unforgettable moment occurred on Day 3 of the Only Test between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
During England's second innings, Brown bowled a beauty in the 4th over, dismissing England opener Maia Bouchier for just 1 run off 12 balls. After a couple of deliveries that moved away, Brown unleashed a sharp nip-backer. The ball, traveling at 118.5 km/h, pitched around off-stump and jagged back sharply.
Bouchier, caught off-guard and without any foot movement, attempted to defend but was beaten on the inside edge. The ball snuck through the gap between bat and pad, crashing into the stumps, sending Bouchier back to the pavilion.
Australia Put A Mammoth First-Innings Target For England
Earlier, Australia Women had set a mammoth target for England, having declared their first innings at 440, leading by 270 runs. Sophie Ecclestone claimed a five-wicket haul for England, making her way onto the honours board. Despite the English bowlers' efforts, Australia’s Annabel Sutherland and Beth Mooney shone with fantastic centuries. Sutherland scored 163, while Mooney made 106, both anchoring Australia’s innings.
Now, England face an uphill battle in their second innings. At the time of writing, England are trailing by 224 runs.
