In a significant development, Cricket Australia have sent a delegation to Pakistan to assess security arrangements ahead of the bilateral series in January. Notably, Australia are all set to visit Pakistan for a three-match T20I next year ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.
The details about the trip are yet to be finalised, but the Australian delegation has landed in Lahore, where they will inspect the security arrangements at the Gaddafi Stadium and the LLCA ground, as reports from Times of India suggest that all three matches will take place in Lahore only.
Besides the ground, the officials will also inspect the hotel arrangements and meet PCB officials to make sure that there are no lapses in the security.
Why did Australia send their delegation to Pakistan?
On November 12, 2025, a bomb blast occurred in Islamabad, Pakistan, killing several people. During that time, Sri Lankan cricketers wanted to return home, but after the board's intervention, the team decided to stay and complete the tour.
Nonetheless, the incident caused a scar in other cricket bodies, and Australia now want to be extra careful before sending their players to Pakistan. Therefore, Cricket Australia has sent a delegation to look after the arrangements.
Australia likely to postpone ODI series vs Pakistan
Notably, it will be Australia's third bilateral tour to Pakistan since the ICC lifted the ban on the Men in Green to host international games on their home soil.
Also, Australia are set to travel to Pakistan for an ODI series, but reports added that the tour is most likely to be postponed as Cricket Australia is planning to have it rescheduled ahead of 2027 ODI World Cup.
