Australia, South Africa Share Points After Wash Out

Australia’s highly-awaited Group B match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy against fellow heavyweights South Africa turned out to be a damp-squib affair at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The match, marking the seventh fixture of the tournament and the third from Group B, was eventually abandoned without a ball being bowled, allowing both teams to walk away with a point each owing to ceaseless rains.

South Africa retained its number one position on the Group B standings with three points from two games, holding an NRR of 2.140. The Australian team finds itself at number two with an NRR of 0.475.

Venkatesh Iyer Hints KKR Captaincy In IPL 2025

KKR zealot Venkatesh Iyer has hinted out at a potential captaincy gig for the franchise ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The dazzling all-rounder, who was re-acquired by the KKR management prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, said that he is ready to take up the leadership role for the team if given the opportunity, considering previous skipper Shreyas Iyer opted himself out of the franchise after leading them to IPL 2024 win last year.

Test Practice For India In IPL 2025 As BCCI Devises Plan

Team India’s Test stars will likely start preparations for the upcoming five-match Test series in England during the IPL 2025 season itself. As reported by Cricbuzz, the BCCI is aiming to devise a strategy that will prompt several of India’s first-choice Test cricketers to practice with red balls while being with their respective franchises in IPL.

While the IPL 2025 season is scheduled to conclude on May 25, India’s five-match Test series in England will launch from June 20 onwards in Headingley.

Southern Brave Ignore Smriti Mandhana For The Hundred 2025

Prolific Indian batter Smriti Mandhana has been ignored by the Southern Brave franchise for the upcoming Women’s The Hundred 2025 season. Mandhana is currently leading defending champions RCB in WPL 2025. Interestingly, her WPL teammate Danni Wyatt-Hodge was one of the first players to be retained by Southern Brave.

After undergoing stellar seasons with Southern Brave in WPL, Smriti Mandhana managed to accrue just 60 runs in five matches of the 2024 edition of the tournament last year at a below-par average of 12. Nonetheless, The Hundred 2025 season is slated to launch on August 5 later this year.

Jess Jonassen Bludgeon Giants As Capitals Jump To The Top

Delhi Capitals Women flayed their Gujarat Giants counterparts by six wickets and 29 balls to spare in match number 10 of the WPL 2025 season in Bengaluru. Batting first, the Giants managed to haul just 127-9 from 20 overs despite featuring a sizzling 29-ball 40 from unbeaten Bharti Fulmali.
