In a completely one-sided encounter, the Delhi Capitals Women (DCW) heavily defeated the Gujarat Giants Women (GGW) in the 10th match of the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Shafali Verma's and Jonassen's brisk innings were equally complemented by the pace quartet of Pandey, Kapp, Sadhu, and Sutherland, as they cruised to victory with six wickets and 29 balls to spare.

Here’s the timeline of how Delhi Capitals Women vs Gujarat Giants Women panned out in Bengaluru:

Delhi Pacers Shuts Down Gujarat's Top Order

Having won the toss, the Delhi Capitals side, led by the inspirational Meg Lanning, put the Gujarat Giants side into bat at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, it was far from an ideal start for the Giants, who lost their first four wickets for just 20 runs on the board, courtesy of a high-profile show of pace bowling by the Delhi bowlers.

The ball was moving around quite a bit as the pace quartet of Shikha Pandey, Marizanne Kapp, Titas Sadhu, and Annabelle Sutherland made sure they gave no room for complacency.

The wickets kept tumbling one after the other, and by the end of the 11th over, they were six down for 60, with all main batters—Beth Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield, Ashley Gardner, and Deandra Dottin—back in the hut.

Fulmali's Attacking Show Helps Giants Get To 127 After Others Failed

The Giants were looking at a potential bowl-out for just less than a hundred runs on the board, but in came Bharti Fulmali, who showed good resilience with the bat, scoring a brisk 40 off just 29 runs, remaining unbeaten by the end of the innings as she put on four fours and two sixes in her knock.

Pandey, Kapp, and Sutherland picked up two wickets each while bowling at an economy of less than or equal to six, whereas Sadhu and Jess Jonassen picked up one each.

Chasing 128 for victory, the Delhi-based side were in a highly dominant position with victory in their grasp. However, they lost the wicket of skipper Lanning in the fourth over for just three when Delhi's score was 14 at that stage. Kashvee Gautam was the enforcer whose swinging deliveries proved a difficult task for Lanning to get away with.

Now, it was Shafali Verma who took the first charge alongside incoming batter Jess Jonassen, scoring runs at a brisk rate as she took Delhi to 88 for 2 in 9.4 overs when had to depart after scoring 44 from just 27 deliveries, with five fours and three sixes to her name.

Jonassen's Half-Century Paves The Way For Capitals' Victory

Verma's aggressive batting sent the Giants bowlers on the back foot, as they had no room to get back in the game at any stage from that point. Both Jonassen and Verma went quite aggressive right from the start as Gujarat was staring at another potential loss in this tournament.

In the end, it was just a formality for the Capitals, as they finished the game quite easily in the 15.1 overs, courtesy of Jess Jonassen's half-century of 26 deliveries. She ended up scoring 61 not out from 32 deliveries, with nine fours and two sixes to her name. Delhi finished the game comfortably with six wickets to spare and earned another two points on the board.
