APL 2022 | BZW vs CSR | Rain spoils Bezawada Tigers' party as Coastal Riders advance to the final

With rain playing spoilsport in Qualifier 1 of the Andhra Premier League (APL) 2022 between Bezawada Tigers (BZW) and Coastal Riders (CSR), the latter advanced to the final as they were the table-toppers at the end of the league stage of the competition.

In what turned out to be an anti-climax, it was an unfair result for Bezawada Tigers, who will now face Rayalaseema Kings in Qualifier 2 of the APL 2022.

Only 16.2 overs of play was possible before a washout at Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

Coastal Riders won the toss and chose to bowl first. While Maddala A Praneeth lost his wicket early, K Maheep Kumar and Pyla Avinash collectively contributed 88 runs in 63 deliveries.

However, CSR found themselves in a sticky situation after the two set batters were dismissed in the 12th and 13th overs of the innings. Just when things were starting to get better with Ricky Bhui and KP Rahul steadying the ship, the fixture had to be called off due to incessant rain.

With this, CSR have booked their place in the final of the inaugural APL edition, while BZW will now feature in Qualifier 2 of the tournament, scheduled against Rayalaseema Kings.

Brief scores:

Bezawada Tigers - 132/3 (16.2)

Pyla Avinash 47(28), K Maheep Kumar 41(35);

Madha Deepak 1-19 (3)

Match was abandoned
