Tim David willing to play for Australia in the T20 World Cup 2022

Singapore-born Cricketer Tim David said he would be thrilled and really excited if he gets the opportunity to play for Australia in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Born in Singapore, David is also an Australian citizen having grown up there and is making a compelling case for selection after outstanding returns in the global sprint-format leagues. In T20 leagues around the world, as well as for Singapore in international cricket, the 26-year-old has demonstrated his power-hitting abilities.

But Cricket Australia (CA) contract norms suggest that if a player is not contracted with a first-class state team, then he cannot represent Australia at the highest level.

When asked about playing for Australia, David responded by saying that he would be thrilled and excited if an opportunity comes his way.

"They won the World Cup six months ago and that team hasn’t changed since then. Those guys have been playing for Australia for a long time. If I had the opportunity to be a part of it, I’d be thrilled and really excited," said Tim David.

David further said that playing in the T20 leagues around the globe has helped him boost his confidence and he is not getting ahead of himself or contemplating a call-up from the Australian team.

"I’m not really thinking about it too much, to be honest. Playing well in T20 leagues fills me with a lot of confidence, but international cricket is a different beast so we’ll see what happens if I get that opportunity. It’s just another challenge. I just want to keep trying to improve and have fun," added David.
