The South African team had a great time in the ODI series against Australia as they managed to seal the series with 3-2. But this series came out to be a disappointing one for both teams as a few of the players got injured during the series.

Travis Head, Spencer Johnson and Cameron Green from the Australian camp and Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala from the South African team. Travis Head will not be able to feature in the first half of the tournament.

Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala will give fitness test this week

The South African ace bowler, Anrich Nortje suffered an injury in his lower back. Out of the five ODIs, he played just one and he was also rested for the T20I series. Anrich has played cricket all over the world in recent times, from IPL to the USA's inaugural Major League Cricket 2023.

It is going to be a huge blow to the South African side if their fastest bowler will not be able to play for them in the upcoming World Cup. The Proteas are known for their fast bowling and missing out on two fast bowlers who were announced as a part of the 15-man squad for the World Cup would not be a favourable situation for them.

Their injuries are quite serious as Magala suffered a knee injury. If these two missed out on the squad, then Andile Phehlukwayo, who was called in for the replacement during the ODI series will be the first one to be picked up in the World Cup squad. Bjorn Fortuin, who is a left-arm spinner is also in the talks to be picked for the World Cup 2023.
