Pakistan team crashed out of the Asia Cup 2023 race with a last-ball defeat to Sri Lanka in their virtual semi-final. To make matters worse for the team management, reports soon emerged of a possible dressing-room spat between team skipper Babar Azam and senior speedster Shaheen Afridi.

Babar himself coped much criticism from all corners of Pakistan’s cricketing fraternity, and was even seen breaking down in tears after team’s defeat in the must-win game.

Amidst team’s recent failures, controversies and Babar’s own form with the bat, scores of Pakistan fans have extended their support for their ace batter by trending #BehindYouSkipper on X (formerly Twitter).

Pakistan fans stand in solidarity with Babar Azam

A legion of Pakistan fans have expressed their support for skipper Babar Azam following the team’s cataclysmic run at the 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. The cricketer himself had a tournament to forget with the bat, as he failed to make any impact across Pakistan’s three must-win Super Four matches.

Mere weeks ahead of the 2023 World Cup in India, several Pakistan fans took to X (formerly Twitter) and trended the hashtag #BehindYouSkipper to showcase their love and support for the batting maverick.

In the meantime, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to form their squad for the 2023 World Cup and with recent injuries to Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, coupled with the declining form of several senior members, their selection committee is left with much to ponder in the coming weeks.

Babar Azam and co. are slated to launch their World Cup 2023 campaign with a match against the Netherlands on October 6.
