James Anderson has been awarded honorary life membership of the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) following his retirement from international cricket. 

Anderson retired after England's innings and 114-run victory over West Indies in the first Test of the series at Lord's. In his illustrious career spanning over two decades, he played 188 Test matches and took 704 wickets. 


James Anderson Was Awarded Honorary Life Membership Of MCC

During the post-match presentation, MCC President Mark Nicholas presented Anderson with the honorary membership. The crowd and his teammates gave him a standing ovation, a moment that quickly went viral on social media.

James Anderson, is the third-highest wicket taker in the longest format of the game along with Shane Warne at second with 708 and Muttiah Muralitharan at the top with 800 wickets in the format. 

Anderson’s Test career began against Zimbabwe at Lord’s and his career also came to an end in the very same venue.  His longevity is unmatched as he becomes the only fast bowler to cross 40000 legal deliveries bowled in the format.

In the last match of his career, he scalped three wickets against the West Indies showcasing his enduring skill and fitness. 

The Next match will be played from 18-22 July at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. England will try to continue with the winning momentum and West Indies will try to bounce back and level the series.
