The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) crashed to an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium. Shortly after the match, SRH owner Kavya Maran was spotted in an emotionally vulnerable state in the stands.

Kavya, who often attends SRH games to extend her passionate support for the franchise, even shed tears while she was trying to hide her face from the camera. A video of a visibly distraught Kavya Maran subsequently went viral across social media, prompting several SRH fans and IPL enthusiasts to extend their support for the disappointed CEO.

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan also expressed his support while consoling Kavya Maran through his blog on Tumblr.

Amitabh Bachchan, a vivid follower of cricket, congratulated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise after they upstaged SRH in the final of the IPL 2024 season.

The senior Bollywood actor also consoled SRH’s CEO Kavya Maran after videos of her shedding tears of grief went viral across social media.

Taking to Tumblr, Amitabh Bachchan wrote

“The IPL final is over and KKR have won a most convincing victory. SRH were simply outplayed… disappointing in many ways because SRH is a good team. But what was most touching to observe was the pretty young lady… the owner of SRH, in the stadium, get emotional after the loss and break into tears, turning her face away from the cameras, so as not to display her emotion. I felt bad for her!! Never mind… tomorrow is another day… my dear!!”

On the cricketing front, the SRH group was outplayed in all aspects of the game by Shreyas Iyer’s rampaging KKR unit.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, SRH managed to score just 113 in 18.3 overs with captain Pat Cummins top-scoring in the innings through his mere 24-run effort.

Despite getting rid of KKR opener Sunil Narine early in the run-chase, SRH bowlers failed to make a match out of their moderate total as Shreyas Iyer and co. overhauled their target with eight wickets and nearly 10 overs to spare.
