Ambati Rayudu has sparked another controversy as he commented on Virat Kohli's performance for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final. Former CSK cricketer claimed that Kohli's excellent form has become a 'burden' for his teammates.

He suggested that Kohli's consistency puts undue pressure on young players instead of aiding their development. According to Rayudu, his high standards and exceptional performance may intimidate or overwhelm younger players rather than inspire them.

Ambati Rayudu's Takes Sly Dig On Virat Kohli's Standards

The recent controversial comments of Ambati Rayudu about Virat Kohli has sparked significant reactions in the cricketing community.

On live TV after the final match between KKR and SRH, Rayudu stated that Kohli's exceptionally high standards create undue pressure on younger players, implying that Kohli should moderate his expectations to help nurture emerging talent.

"When you have a stalwart or a legend like Virat Kohli, who has set really high standards for the best in the game to match. So, it is very-very hard for youngsters to be in a side like Virat Kohli and really try and match his standards because he wants the team to be at that standard," Rayudu said.

Kevin Pietersen and Matthew Hayden disagreed with Rayudu's stance and argued that his high standards are essential for maintaining excellence and pushing players to reach their full potential.

Rayudu had slammed the RCB team's management after the franchise was knocked out of IPL 2024, when RR defeated them in the eliminator match. He also took a sly dig at Kohli by saying that Orange Cap cannot make a team win an IPL trophy.
