Australia Women captain Alyssa Healy is inching closer to recovery before her team’s impending 2025 World Cup semifinal clash against tournament hosts India. Earlier this month, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter suffered a calf injury during a training session for Australia.

The injury prompted Alyssa Healy to miss out on Australia’s final two league stage games against England and South Africa Women, allowing Tahlia McGrath to stand up as interim captain.

Alyssa Healy completes fitness test

As published by the ICC on their official website, Australia Women captain Alyssa Healy is giving positive indications in her recovery phase, and even recently went through a fitness test during a training session. Healy then participated in wicketkeeping drills and took part in a full batting session in the nets where she went up against the net bowlers.

The 35-year-old suffered her calf injury earlier this month, shortly after Australia’s World Cup 2025 match against Bangladesh Women. In her last two appearances for Australia this tournament, Alyssa Healy blasted two match-winning centuries, one each against India and Bangladesh.

Overall, the multi-World Cup winner has aggregated 294 runs in just four innings of the ongoing edition at a prolific batting average of 98, all while maintaining an astonishing strike rate of 131.25.

Nonetheless, even in her absence, Australia Women thumped England by six wickets and South Africa by seven wickets to remain unbeaten at the end of the league stage this 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Their semifinal match against India Women will be hosted by the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30.
