Shreyas Iyer injury update: BCCI confirms stable condition after internal bleeding

The BCCI has provided the second official update on Shreyas Iyer's gruesome injury. It has now been confirmed that the condition of the star Indian cricketer is stable, and he has undergone significant improvement since he got an injury.

BCCI's statement on Shreyas Iyer's injury

Shreyas Iyer sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding on 25th October during the third ODI against Australia. The injury was promptly identified, and the bleeding was immediately arrested. His condition is now stable, and he continues to be under observation. A repeat scan done on Tuesday, 28th October, has shown significant improvement, and Shreyas is on the road to recovery. The BCCI Medical Team, in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, will continue to monitor his progress.

The injury happened during the third and final ODI against Australia at the SCG. Shreyas Iyer took a brilliant running catch of Alex Carey, but hurt the abdomen area in the process. He was immediately taken off the field and was put in the ICU for some time.

However, the cricketer's condition has improved. In the second update, the BCCI has stated that the injury was identified quickly, which led to the immediate arrest of internal bleeding, and he is currently under the observation of experts.

The cricketer is now on the road to recovery, and it has been assured that the BCCI medical team, in consultation with doctors from Sydney and India, is monitoring Shreyas Iyer. The BCCI has not revealed how much time it will take for him to recover, but he is likely to miss the ODI series against South Africa.
