After the IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday, something heartwarming happened. Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Akash Madhwal was seen greeting Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh with folded hands, showing deep respect.
For those who don’t know, Madhwal used to play for MI and made his IPL debut under Rohit’s captaincy. So, meeting Rohit again after the match was a special moment for him.

In a video that quickly went viral online, Madhwal was seen chatting with Rohit near the presentation area. Rohit even pointed towards his wife sitting in the stands, and Madhwal respectfully greeted her too with folded hands.
Another sweet gesture, Madhwal asked Rohit to sign his RR jersey, and Rohit happily gave his autograph.
Akash Madhwal’s Performance This Season
Madhwal was bought by RR for ₹1.2 crore in the 2025 mega auction. However, he played only one match this season and that too was against his old team MI. Unfortunately, it wasn’t his best day, as he gave away 39 runs in 4 overs without taking any wickets.
Mumbai’s Stunning Comeback In IPL 2025
MI are on fire this season. They crushed Royals by 100 runs in Jaipur on Thursday. With this win, MI now has six wins in a row and are almost into the playoffs. This big loss, on the other hand, knocked RR out of playoff contention.
Rohit Sharma also achieved a big personal record in this match. He completed 6,000 runs for Mumbai Indians in IPL, becoming only the second player in the league to score so many runs for a single team.
In the match, MI batted first and posted a huge total of 217/2. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton gave them a solid start with half-centuries. Then, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya smashed 48* runs each to finish the innings strong.
Royals, who had chased down 210 runs just a few days ago at the same venue, couldn’t repeat the magic. They were bowled out for 117 in just 16.1 overs. This was their 8th loss in 11 matches.
MI will play their next match against Gujarat Titans at home on May 6. If they win, they’ll officially qualify for the playoffs.
