In a significant development, Mohammed Shami has received a death threat via email. According to a report from sports journalist Abhishek Tripathi, Shami received a threat via e-mail by a man named Rajput Sindhar. Further, the sender has also demanded 1 crore rupees from Shami as protection.
The report featured that the sender has demanded a crore from the IPL star otherwise he would lose his life, as mentioned in the email. Mohammed Shami was not the one who read the mail as he is busy playing in the IPL, but his brother Mohammed Haseeb saw the email and informed SP of Amroha about the matter. A FIR has been filed and the police are probing the incident.
Meanwhile, things are not going well for Shami as he is having a season to forget. Notably, he has taken just 6 wickets in 9 innings, with an economy of 11.23. Further, Shami is not the only cricketer to have received a death threat as India head coach Gautam Gambhir was also threatened with a death threat.
Gautam Gambhir Gets A Death Threat
On April 24, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir approached Delhi Police after receiving a death threat from a Kashmir-based terrorist organisation on Wednesday. Gambhir, who serves as the Indian team's head coach, is also a former Member of Parliament from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), the ruling political party in India.
Gambhir received two emails, both containing the same message, "IKillU". Following the scary incident, the cricketer-turned-coach approached the Delhi Police on Wednesday, demanding swift action from the authorities. At present, the person who sent the mail has been identified and a probe is underway.
