A month after Hanuma Vihari accused the Andhra Cricket Association of unceremoniously stripping him of captaincy and vowed to cut ties with state cricket, the governing body has now issued him a show-cause notice.

However, Vihari, who is keen on severing his association with Andhra and seeking opportunities with another team, has not yet provided a response to the notice issued following the ACA Apex Council meeting held a few days ago.

“Yes, we have served him a show-cause notice and we are awaiting his reply,” an ACA official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

“This is just to find what made him react the way he did last month. He has not reached out to us, so this is a chance for him to come out with his grievances.”

In their statement, the ACA recognized Hanuma Vihari's contributions to the development of cricket in Andhra Pradesh and expressed curiosity about the factors influencing his decision to play for another state.

“After all, we value Vihari and his contributions to the growth of state cricket as he has played a big part in Andhra going up in the ranks in domestic cricket,” he added.

Following Andhra's defeat to Madhya Pradesh in this year's Ranji Trophy quarterfinal, the 30-year-old right-handed batter turned to social media to allege that the ACA removed him from captaincy immediately after Andhra's first match of the season against Bengal.

However, during that period, Vihari explained the decision as being due to 'personal reasons.' Later, in his Instagram post, he contended that the ACA's actions were motivated by pressure from a local politician following a complaint from the politician's son regarding Vihari's use of foul language during the match.
