In the ongoing dispute between Hanuma Vihari and the Andhra Cricket Association, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has expressed his support for Vihari's perspective.

Vihari recently revealed in an Instagram post that he was asked to relinquish his captaincy following an incident where he reprimanded a fellow squad member, whose father holds political sway. However, the Andhra Cricket Association has countered these claims, stating that Vihari himself expressed intentions to depart from the state team on multiple occasions and voluntarily surrendered his captaincy.

Chopra, offering his insight into the matter, emphasized the need to trust the player, particularly one of Vihari's caliber. He remarked:

"Mud-slinging is happening, the blame game is happening from both sides. From a players' fraternity, you want to trust the player always. Hanuma Vihari is not just any player. He batted for Andhra with one hand when he had a fracture in his hand."

Reflecting on Vihari's commendable journey, Chopra highlighted instances where the player exhibited exceptional resilience and commitment to the game.

"He has had an incredible journey. He has helped Andhra qualify. He has got the team together. I have huge respect for him, whether it was the Sydney match where he played with a torn hamstring and put his career on the line, and then he batted one-handed for Andhra. I would want to actually believe Hanuma Vihari's version."

Chopra anticipates the intervention of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ensure equitable judgment. He also characterized Vihari's choice to discontinue playing for Andhra as reasonable, emphasizing the considerable strain on their relationship and expressing confidence in Vihari's ability to perform professionally with any team in the country.
