In the latest developments, India’s rising star and explosive batter, Abhishek Sharma, has been crowned ICC’s September Player of the Month after a sensational run in the Asia Cup 2025, where he finished as the leading run-getter. His fearless batting approach and aggressive batting made him India’s MVP in the tournament as he pipped Kuldeep Yadav and Brian Bennett to win the award.

Kuldeep Yadav and Zimbabwean star, Bennett also had a sensational month, but Abhishek was the obvious choice for his Asia Cup exploits.
“It feels great to win this ICC award and I am happy that it has come for some important matches that I could help win," Abhishek said.
“I am proud to be part of a team that can pull off victories from the most difficult of situations. Our recent track record in T20Is reflects our outstanding team culture and positive mindset. I thank the team management for their guidance and to all my teammates for their support. I am also thankful to the panel that selected me for this award.”
Abhishek Sharma's dream Asia Cup run
Abhishek was India’s star in the Asia Cup as the batter produced numerous match-winning knocks to help India win the title. In the entire competition, the left-handed batter added 314 runs in seven matches and was crowned the Player of the Tournament.
He scored runs at a strike rate of 200, and he struck three half-centuries in the tournament. His most memorable knock came against Pakistan in the Super 4 stage, when the maverick batter hammered 74 off 39 balls and guided India to a superb one-sided win, as they thrashed their arch-rivals.
