Abhishek Sharma goes past Kohli, Rizwan to slam most runs in a single edition of T20 Asia Cup

In the ongoing Asia Cup T20 match between India and Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium, Abhishek Sharma brought up his third consecutive fifty in the tournament. Not only that, but with his fifty-plus run knock, the southpaw went past Virat Kohli, Mohammad Rizwan to hold the record for most runs in a single edition of T20 Asia Cup.

Prior to this Sri Lanka match, Abhishek required just 34 runs to shatter the long-standing feat. Earlier, Mohammad Rizwan held the record for his 281-run tournament in 2022 T20 Asia Cup. However, at the time of writing this article, Abhishek has breached the 300-runs mark and become the first player to do so. 

Abhishek Sharma Leaves Behind Virat, Rizwan

For India, Virat Kohli was the leading run-getter with 276 runs in same edition as Rizwan, but now Abhishek has gone past him as well. Here is the complete list of players with most runs in a single edition of Asia Cup T20.

Abhishek Sharma In Stellar Form In Asia Cup 2025

Abhishek Sharma, who is the world's no.1 T20I batter, has proved why he deserves that position as the left-handed batter has been in outstanding form in the ongoing edition. 

The southpaw has 309 runs in six innings, averaging 51.50. Most importantly, the 25-year-old has not compromised with his scoring rate and has batted in the entire tournament with 204 strike-rate.
