James Anderson retired from international cricket in July 2024 and has created a legacy which puts him among the legends of the game. He finished his career with 704 Test wickets and his longevity as well as skills in Test cricket is almost unmatchable. The cricketer though played just 19 T20Is for his country, and at the age of 42, the man seems determined to make an impact in the shortest format as well.

James Anderson Shows His Class In The Shortest Format

In his comeback T20 game after 11 years, the bowler picked three wickets for Lancashire against Durham. In the next game he picked one wicket while in the third match against Northamptonshire, he has again grabbed three scalps for 31 runs in his four overs.

All three wickets were massive wickets in the context of the game. He first removed South African opener, Matthew Breetzke in the third over of the innings, and then removed another opener, Ricardo Vasconcelos. The bowler then got the better of veteran, Ravi Bopara to bring his team back in the game. These performances have come in T20 Blast, a highly competitive tournament where many prominent active players ply their trade.

English Legend Eyeing Franchise League Across Globe

Thus, James Anderson has shown the world again, that he still loves cricket and has lot of fire left in his belly. James Anderson last T20I game was way back in 2009 while he featured previously in T20 Blast during the 2014 season. The focus for the legend was Test cricket where he delivered with great distinction for his country.

After his retirement from international cricket in 2024, James Anderson has openly expressed the desire to play in franchise T20 leagues around the world. He registered his name in the auction for IPL 2025 but did not find any buyers. However, with a strong performance in T20 Blast, Anderson could be seen in more franchise leagues in the future.
