Carlos Alcaraz just pulled off the unthinkable at the 2025 French Open as he secured a stunning five-set win over Jannik Sinner in the final. The scoreboard read 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 and the match stretched for five hours and 29 minutes, making it the second-longest men’s major final in history.

With that epic win, the 22-year-old Spaniard now holds five Grand Slam titles, becoming the third-youngest man to achieve the feat in the Open Era.

MS Dhoni Was Courtside As Alcaraz Lit Up The US Open In 2023

And while the world celebrates Alcaraz’s rise, Indian fans couldn’t help but rewind to a few iconic moments when one of India’s greatest sporting icons, MS Dhoni showed up as a quiet spectator at the US Open, watching the Spaniard steal the show.

Dhoni’s love for sport runs deeper than just cricket. We have seen him ride superbikes, swing a golf club and chill courtside with the same cool he shows behind the stumps.

But over the years, he has built a low-key bond with tennis, especially when it comes to watching Carlos Alcaraz. The man who finished World Cups with sixes was spotted watching Grand Slam moments unfold live and not just once.

Back in September 2023, the US Open quarterfinal under the lights at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Dhoni was right there in the crowd, soaking in the atmosphere as Carlos Alcaraz took on Germany’s Alexander Zverev. And it was a one-way street.

The Spaniard crushed Zverev 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in straight sets to storm into the semis. The cameras spotted Dhoni sitting cool as ever, shades on, living the fan life.

Though Alcaraz lost in the semis to Daniil Medvedev, that night against Zverev had the sparkle of something special. And MSD got a front-row seat to it.

And Before That, The Alcaraz-Sinner Marathon In 2022

In 2022 as well, Dhoni was spotted during US Open a quarterfinal classic between Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the same man Alcaraz just beat in the French Open final.

That night was wild. A five-set thriller that went down to the wire. Alcaraz came back from the dead and then rode that momentum all the way to his first Grand Slam title, defeating Casper Ruud in the final.

Two champions, two different sports, but the same DNA: composure under pressure, ice in the veins and that deep hunger to win. Dhoni may not say much, but when he shows up, legends are usually being made.
