MI Vs GT: Hardik's team aim to break jinx [Source: @iplt20.com]
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have reached the finale of the Indian Premier League 2025 and now the focus will shift towards the all-important Eliminator contest between the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans at the same ground where Qualifier 1 was played - Mullanpur Stadium.
The team which loses here will straightaway be eliminated and the winning team will face-off against the Punjab Kings in the Qualifier 2. The last time MI and GT collided in the IPL league stage, the Shubman Gill led side won the match by the barest of margins at the Wankhede Stadium.
Unlike GT, MI have more experience of playing in the playoffs, but there is one key reason why the Titans will hold the key over MI and that is their last 4 match record.
MI haven't beaten GT in last 4 attempts
In the last 4 matches between the two teams, MI have not won a single contest and it has been 748 since their last triumph against a formidable GT team. Their last win came in the 2023 edition of the IPL when MI posted 218/5, courtesy of a Suryakumar Yadav century.
In reply, GT were never really in the chase as their top order departed cheaply. Rashid Khan turned the unlikely hero as he slammed a quick-fire 79 off 32 but that wasn't enough for a win.
Since then, GT have gone on a 4-game winning streak with two wins this season itself. However, GT are themselves on a two-match losing streak since the league resumed and will be under-confident heading into the match.
