Pakistan top-order crumbled for the second time in succession in the T20I series against Bangladesh, as they lost their first five wickets for just 15 runs on the board in the second match in Mirpur. Chasing 134 runs for a win, Pakistan slipped to 15-5 to reach a sluggish powerplay score of 17-5, and eventually to 125 all out to fall eight runs short of the hosts.
Bangladesh bowlers seemed to have rekindled Pakistan’s old scars against the new ball, exposing their top-order fragility once again and triggering memories of some of their most infamous T20I collapses. Here is a look at three of Pakistan’s worst batting starts in T20I history, including their latest debacle.
Pakistan’s Latest Debacle Their Worst Start In A T20I
Pakistan slipped to 15-5 in the second T20I of the three-match series against Bangladesh on Tuesday, July 22 to record their lowest score in the format after losing the first five wickets. The ‘Men in Green’ endured a similar nightmare last year in Brisbane, albeit against Australia; as well as over a decade ago in Dubai in 2012 against the same opponents. Here is a look at three of Pakistan’s lowest T20I scores upon losing the first five wickets:
Lowest Scores For Pakistan After Losing First 5 Wickets In T20Is:
Score | Opponent | Venue, Year |
15/5 | Bangladesh | Mirpur, 2025 |
16/5 | Australia | Brisbane, 2024 |
19/5 | Australia | Dubai, 2012 |
Even in the first match of the ongoing series against Bangladesh, Pakistan slipped to 46-5 before getting bowled out for just 110 in 19.3 overs. With crushing defeats in both games, Agha Salman and co. need to win the impending third T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur to avoid a 0-3 series whitewash.
The third match between the two sides will commence from 5:30 PM IST onwards on Thursday, July 24.
