The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise pipped Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final to lift the coveted silverware for the first time in the league’s 18-year history. However, RCB’s moment of euphoria soon turned out to be tales of tragedy for some as 11 fans reportedly died the following day due to a stampede-like situation outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium while celebrating team victory.
Furthermore, recent reports now indicate that off-field chaos even marred the IPL 2025 final, as panned out at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3.
IPL 2025 final paved way for pickpockets?
Nearly 91,000 spectators attended the grand IPL 2025 finale between RCB and Punjab Kings at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3. As reported by MyKhel, nearly 200 people snuck in without valid tickets.
Moreover, the excessive crowd at the venue may well have paved way for several pickpockets inside the stadium, as nearly 100 cases of stolen mobile phones were reported during the match.
It is worth noting that the final was originally supposed to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, the delay caused by India’s cross-border tensions with Pakistan prompted BCCI to reschedule the backend of the tournament, shifting the final from Kolkata to Ahmedabad over weather concerns.
Nonetheless, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs after amassing 190-9 from 20 overs upfront. Virat Kohli top-scored in the innings with 43 off 35 balls, while the likes of Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone and Mayank Agarwal chipped in with fiery cameos.
Later during the Punjab Kings run-chase, RCB spinner Krunal Pandya unfurled the spell of the match with figures of 2-17 from his four overs.
