Sanju Samson has completed 10 years since making his T20I debut for India, and his journey has been anything but easy. From being one of the most talented young ones in Indian cricket to becoming everyone's favourite, Sanju's career has witnessed highs and lows.

Sanju made his T20I debut on July 19, 2015, against Zimbabwe. At that time, he was just 20 years old and already well known for his stylish strokeplay in the IPL. 

Many believed he would become a regular in India’s white-ball teams. But though he had the talent, consistency and some competition from other players ensured that it was hard for him to hold a place.

Indian wicket-keeper Sanju Samson marks the 10th year of his journey in the T20I format. To celebrate the milestone, he shared an image with his debut cap on Instagram.

Over the years, Sanju has had to wait for his chances. His performances in the IPL for the Rajasthan Royals kept him in the spotlight, but in the Indian team, he often had to warm the bench.

He would get picked for some series, play well in one match, and then not be given many chances after that. This stop-start nature of his international career became a subject of discussion among supporters and specialists.

Despite the setbacks, Sanju Samson never gave up. In recent years, especially in 2023 and 2024, he started getting more regular chances in India’s T20I side. He gained fame after hitting 3 T20I centuries in 2024.

That year, he accumulated 436 runs in 12 innings with a 43.60 average. Since his promotion as an opener, Samson has thrived in the blues. With the T20 World Cup 2026 looming on the horizon, everyone will be looking at Samson and his form. Being a senior member, pressures and expectations will weigh heavily on his shoulders.
