WPL mega auction 2026: Bowling wizards who could be hot picks during intense bidding wars

The WPL mega auction is scheduled for November 27, 2026, and the teams are already up with their pen and paper to form the core of their liking for the next three years. While there has been an abundance of all-rounders in the auction pool, specialist bowlers are like rare diamonds.

Given the trend of the last three seasons of the mega tournament, teams also have been suffering a lack of having specialist bowlers in their arsenal. Hence, this year, in the mega auction, here are the few names who can be part of significant bidding wars in the WPL 2026 mega auction.

1. Sophie Ecclestone

The 26-year-old slow left-arm orthodox spinner Sophie Ecclestone speaks of absolute class with the ball. She displays calm and composure in high-pressure situations to pivot a losing match too. More noticeably, she has been the third-highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded Women's World Cup 2025 and hence, can be in significant demand.

Ecclestone's overall WPL stats stand at 36 wickets from 25 matches with an average of 18.38. She bowls at an economy rate of 6.68 in WPL with best figures of 4/13.

2. Deepti Sharma

Deepti Sharma is the highest wicket-taker of the Women's World Cup 2025 and is a spinner of the highest calibre that franchises would like to grab. The 22-wicket taker in the World Cup boasts formidable stats in WPL and is a significant contributor with the bat in the lower order too.

Deepti's contributions in high-pressure situations and her ability to keep things tight are qualities that franchises would want for the T20 fixtures. Deepti collected 27 wickets from 25 WPL matches while bowling at an economy rate of 8.29 and at an average of 29.29.

3. Alana King

Alana King, a former UP Warriorz player, did not get a chance to shine in the previous edition of WPL as she bowled 18 deliveries and was wicketless. 

However, Alana's recent heroics might spark interest among franchises. The Australian legbreak bowler had 13 wickets from her 7 World Cup matches. Her 7-fer against South Africa led the team's win in the 26th group stage fixture for the semi-final against India.

4. Georgia Wareham

Georgia Wareham was not in her best form in the World Cup but she is blowing numbers in the ongoing WBBL for her team, Melbourne Renegades Women, where she already piled up 9 wickets from five matches at an economy rate of 5.38.

5. Shree Charani

The left-arm orthodox spinner, Shree Charani, was the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the Women's World Cup 2025 with 14 wickets from her nine outings, and the budding talent has been given an opportunity by DC-W in the previous edition as well.
