In a last-over thriller, India beat South Africa by 11 runs to win the 3rd T20I and extend a 2-1 lead into a 4-game series. Tilak Varma’s maiden century helped India post 219 total in the first innings. Heinrich Klaasen and Marcon Jansen’s fightback pushed the game to the final over before Arshdeep Singh calmly defended 25 runs to secure an 11-run victory.

IND vs SA Highlights: Tilak-Abhishek Go All Guns blazingAafter Samson’s Duck

India were asked to bat first and Marco Jansen recreated a deja vu moment by dismissing Sanju Samson for a duck. A low bounced good length delivery beat Samson’s defence and hit the off stump, resulting in early breakthrough for the hosts. However, Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma cut short South Africa’s celebrations. 

The duo went all guns blazing to slam 70 runs in the powerplay. The aggressive intent continued as they stacked up a 107-run partnership. While Abhishek was dismissed shortly after he scored a 50 off 25 balls, Tilak batted deep to hit a remarkable maiden century. He finished with 107* off 56 balls, including 7 towering sixes, as India finished with a gigantic 219/6 total by the end of the first 20 overs.

IND Vs SA Highlights: Arshdeep Gets Early Breakthrough

The chase was halted for a few minutes as small insects swarmed the ground, leading to interference. When the play resumed, India had their first breakthrough in Ryan Rickelton. A length delivery from Arshdeep Singh moved away at the last minute with Rickelton getting an edge of the bottom of his bat that crashed into his stumps. 

Varun Chakaravarthy followed it up by deceiving Reeza Hendricks with his line. Hendricks chased the outside off stump pitched ball and missed it as Samson completed a comfortable stumping. Later, a smart review from Suryakumar Yadav led to Tristan Stubbs’ LBW dismissal by Axar Patel as the Proteas were reduced to 68/3 by 9 overs.

IND vs SA Highlights: Klaasen Punishes Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy continued to unleash his mystery as set batter Aiden Markram fell to his setup and holed out to Ramandeep Singh at deep mid-wicket. However, Heinrich Klaasen neutralised Varun with a 23 run over, which included 3 sixes and a dropped opportunity by Suryakumar. Still, Jansen continued the momentum and hit exceptionally well.

Arshdeep Singh got the big fish of Heinrich Klaasen by setting him up with a slower ball. Klaasen went for the drive but edged it to Tilak at deep cover. However, Marco Jansen smacked Hardik Pandya for 26 runs in the 19th over to keep South Africa in contention. He nearly stole it away in the final over with some insane hitting (54 off 17) but Arshdeep trapped him LBW to help India claim a narrow 11-run victory.
