India women will start a multi-format series at home against South Africa on Monday (June 16) in first ODI of the three-match leg at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
There won’t be little surprises regarding the top order, as Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana are clear favourties to be at the top. Even though Yastika Bhatia is an equally deserving player to be in, she might be missed out on the opportunity to shine with the prolific duo being around.
The middle-order positions will be occupied by Jemimah Rodrigues, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh, and probably Dayalan Hemlatha. While Kaur can roll her arms if required, Richa will keep the wickets in Yastika's absence.
Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar are expected to be India's main all-rounders, while Asha Shobana, Renuka Thakur Singh, and Asha Shobana, who all play for RCB, could get their chances in the series opener.
Therefore, even though the likes of Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, Priya Punia, Saika Ishaque, and Uma Chetry are there, they are unlikely to make the cut in the first ODI of the series.
