Pakistan fans had many positive hopes ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. They had their favourite Babar Azam back as captain in white-ball cricket, and expectations were sky-high, particularly after their army-style training before the showpiece event.

However, all the Men in Green brought to their ardent fans were disappointments. Under Babar’s leadership, they, unexpectedly, could not qualify for the Super 8, as India and the USA handed them defeats for elimination before even facing Ireland on Sunday.

In a recent interview on a Pakistani TV show, Shehzad, who recently destroyed Babar Azam, turned into a no-hold-barred beast while criticizing his country’s disastrous performance. He directly blamed Babar and Mohammad Rizwan, two of the stalwarts of the side. In fact, Shehzad also mentioned PCB’s decision to re-appoint Babar Azam as the ‘biggest mistake’.

“Rizwan and Babar were so busy making their own (personal) records that they destroyed the team. It was the biggest mistake to re-appoint Babar Azam as a captain," Shehzad said , as quoted by cricketpakistan.com.

In addition, Shehzad also made a shocking statement, saying that they always find excuses after defeats, but never get to success.

“After losing the match, they’re just left saying that we’ll be learning from our mistakes; when is that going to happen?” he added.

Pakistan’s last match in the competition will take place in Lauderhill on Sunday, and the opposition will be Ireland, who had a three-match T20I series just before the tournament began.
