Siraj, Gill And...? 5 IPL Stars Who Could Be Excluded From India's T20 World Cup Squad

The lucrative Indian Premier League is up and running with full flow, enthralling fans worldwide with its multiple twists and turns. There have been some absolute blockbuster contests, which have kept the passionate fans captivated and glued to the Television.

While some Indian players have performed exceedingly, some others have failed to meet the expectations.

So, considering India's T20 World Cup squad will be picked in the last week of this month, let's see who could miss out on a World Cup berth owing to their poor performance in the ongoing IPL season.

Mohammed Siraj

Ace RCB speedster Mohammed Siraj has had a disappointing IPL 2024 campaign for his franchise.

Often hailed for his impressive all-phase bowling, Siraj has let RCB down with his underwhelming run, managing only three wickets in four matches at an abysmal economy of 10.47.

So, considering veteran pacer Mohit Sharma's resurgence, the GT pacer might get a wild card entry to partner Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh in the World Cup, with Siraj missing out.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan came under heavy scrutiny after controversially opting out of India's South Africa tour earlier this year. His hesitance to play domestic cricket even led to his exclusion from BCCI's central contract list

The southpaw has had a sub-par IPL season this year, amassing only 50 runs in three innings at a modest average of 16.67. So, considering he isn't among the contracted players, Ishan might not be considered for T20 World Cup selection if he doesn't turn things around.

Shubman Gill

Despite being prolific in the longer formats, prominent Indian batter Shubman Gill has had a topsy-turvy ride in T20 cricket. The stylish batter from Punjab even lost his place in India's T20I team after a prolonged rough patch in the format.

Although the IPL 2024 gave him a golden opportunity to revive his T20I career, Gill has yet to grab it, failing to convert his starts into impactful knocks.

With SRH's Abhishek Sharma joining the race with several blistering innings, the chance of Gill making a T20I comeback for the World Cup seems bleak at the moment.

Ravindra Jadeja

You might be surprised to see this name on this list, but Ravindra Jadeja has been nothing short of ordinary in T20Is. The left-handed batter has only 480 runs to his name at a modest scoring rate of 125.33.

This IPL season hasn't been any different for Jadeja, who hasn't contributed significantly for defending champions, Chennai Super Kings.

So, we shouldn't be surprised if the veteran cricketer loses his World Cup place to someone like Axar Patel or Shivam Dube, who have been more impressive in the tournament.

Ravi Bishnoi

Young Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi has been impressive in T20Is for India, scalping 36 wickets in 24 appearances.

However, the wily craftsman has been off-colour since the Afghanistan home series, which has also taken a toll on his IPL performance.

In three matches, the LSG player has got a solitary wicket at a poor economy of 9.60. So, given Yuzvendra Chahal's impressive run in the competition, we shouldn't be surprised if the veteran tweaker is preferred ahead of Bishnoi to spearhead India's spin bowling unit alongside Kuldeep Yadav.
