Shubman Gill At Top, Rashid To Lead Bowling Attack; Gujarat Titans’ Strongest XI For IPL 2024

Gujarat Titans, the IPL 2022 champions, will have a new skipper at the helm in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. As Hardik Pandya is all set to lead his former franchise Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, Shubman Gill, the hottest prospect of Indian cricket at present, will don the captain’s hat.

So, how will Hardik Pandya-less Titans set up their force under the leadership of Ashish Nehra? Let’s have a look at it.

Openers: Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha

Despite the fact that Robin Minz has been rising through the ranks lately, the Titans would prefer veteran Wriddhiman Saha to partner Shubman Gill at the top of the order. Saha has been performing decently in the last couple of years for the Titans, and the Nehra-led think tank are expected to keep faith in the 39-year-old.


Middle-Order: Sai Sudharsan, David Miller, Azmatullah Omarzai

The Titans have two solid middle-order batters, Sai Sudharsan and David Miller, who have been doing remarkably well for the franchise. Then they have Azmatullah Omarzai, the 23-year-old Afghanistan all-rounder, who is thought to be Hardik’s out-and-out replacement in the playing XI. 

Omarzai’s recent all-round performance, particularly in T20s, have been massively lauded, and don’t be surprised if he gets straight into the lineup after getting picked in the latest auction.

Lower-Order: Shahrukh Khan, Rashid Khan, Rahul Tewatia

The Titans have invested heavily in Shahrukh Khan, who is yet to have a breakthrough season in IPL despite being a massive name in India’s domestic circuit. He can be an influencing factor in the middle of the unit, and Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia will follow him to complete the finishing duties.


Bowlers: Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson, Noor Ahmad; Impact Sub: Kartik Tyagi

With Mohammed Shami unavailable for the coming edition, the Titans will have a new look as fast bowlers, with Umesh Yadav leading the charge. He will also have Spencer Johnson, for whom they paid INR 10 crore, to support, while Kartik Tyagi could be an X-factor as an impact sub.

Meanwhile, Rashid is likely to have Noor Ahmad – his Afghanistan’s spin partner – to make a lethal spin twin.
