In the 16th match of T20 World Cup 2024, South Africa won the toss and elected to field first against Netherlands at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York. Aiden Markram stated that considering how the pitch has behaved in previous games, they decided to field first. South Africa have opted for an unchanged playing XI.

NED vs SA: Playing XI

Netherlands: Michael Levitt, Max O'Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Scott Edwards (c), Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Logan van Beek, Tim Pringle, Paul van Meekeren, Vivian Kingma

South Africa: Reeza Hendricks, Quinton de Kock (wk), Aiden Markram (c), Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Ottniel Baartman, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen

NED vs SA: Pitch Report

Ebony Rainford-Brent: "It's a fresh pitch. There is a nice breeze flowing across the ground at 23 km/h. So, the teams will try to use it to their advantage. Speaking of the dimensions, the longest hit is straight down the ground at 72 m. The shortest is 56 m in the third man region. The square leg boundaries are 68 m and 70 m. I have Shaun Pollock with me. What do you make of this pitch?"

Shaun Pollock: "It's been a change of strategy here. They have taken the grass off and rolled a fair bit. They have done what they can to make it a better surface. I think it will play better and it will play better for India vs Pakistan as well."

NED vs SA: Captain's Thought

Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): We are going to bowl. Seen a few games on this wicket and I think we will have a crack on it early in the morning and restrict them to a low total.

Not expecting it to be an absolute belter but there is an advantage of playing before. We have seen in this World Cup, any team can defeat any team. History is history and we have a chance to get things right today. We are going with the same team."

Scott Edwards (Netherlands Captain): "Probably, it comes up. We take a lot of confidence from the games we have previously won. But it's a new day and a new game.

We played a very good game the other day. Our bowlers were awesome and our batters did the job comfortably in the end. Hopefully, we will put up the same work today.
