After five matches of this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), all ten franchises have played their first matches. Currently, Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s star batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has the Orange Cap on his head. In contrast, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Mark Wood owns the Purple Cap.

Interestingly, both Orange Cap and Purple Cap holders will meet each other in Monday's star-studded IPL clash, as Chennai host Lucknow at Chepauk. MS Dhoni and CSK will return home for an extended period of 1426 days.

Gaikwad was CSK's Most Valuable Player in their opening clash against Gujarat Titans. On the back of the stylish right-hander's knock of 92 runs, Chennai posted a considerate total of 178 runs.

Just behind Gaikwad is Mumbai Tilak Varma, who scored a swash-buckling 84* off 46 against RCB. Third on the list is the King himself, Virat Kohli, who smashed spellbinding 82* - which included six fours and five maximums - versus the five-time champions.
