Mumbai Indians have had a number of injury blows just before the start of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, of which the biggest of everything was the unavailability of Suryakumar Yadav.

There is no doubt that Rohit Sharma, the veteran cog of Mumbai’s success, will be at the top alongside Ishan Kishan, who has been heavily criticised lately for not playing for Jharkhand in Ranji Trophy 2024. Tilak Varma, another rising superstar from MI, will follow them, whereas Hardik might take the anchoring role here as well in the absence of SKY.

The finishing duties will be assigned to Tim David and Nehal Wadhera. While Wadhera performed incredibly well in his debut season last year, David has been doing this job ever since Kieron Pollard hung up his boots for the competition.

Another hard-hitting Carribean Romario Shepherd will come at No. 7, with Jasprit Bumrah, the leader of the pack, having a brand new fast bowling duo, Luke Wood and Nuwan Thushara, to support him. Piyush Chawla, who made a sensational comeback in IPL 2023, will be their solo spinner in the line up. Notably, Gerald Coetzee is doubtful for the tournament opener.

Akash Madhwal, who rose through the ranks last year, is expected to be their impact sub, replacing Wadhera.
