The highly anticipated 18th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is only a few months away and the excitement is reaching a fever pitch. The IPL 2025 mega-auctions were a roller-coaster ride as our favourite teams made some exciting additions and took a few unexpected decision as they prepared the squad for the IPL 2025 season.

The five-time IPL winners, Chennai Super Kings, seemed calm and collected all-throughout auction, while there were expectations that Rishabh Pant would be purchased by the Chennai-based franchise. Once again MS Dhoni's masterplan worked as CSK's paddle which was silent for majority of the auctions became evidently visible during the all-rounder category, his personal favourite.

Safe to say, that. once again Dhoni and the entire CSK management has picked up a tournament winning squad. On that note, let us take a look at the three players who can be game-changers for CSK in the upcoming IPL 2025 season.

1) Anshul Kamboj

An emerging talent from Haryana, Anshul Kamboj, previously played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024. During the last IPL season, he picked up two wickets from three games. Continuing with his brilliance, Anshul Kamboj has risen through the ranks in domestic cricket, and it is no surprise that MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took a note of it and decided to purchase the pacer.

The right-arm medium-fast bowler is at the peak of his form, having taken a historic 10-wicket haul of 10/49 in the Ranji Trophy against Kerala, making him only the third player in the tournament's history to do so. Before this, his stunning eight-wicket haul in the 2024 Duleep Trophy further cemented his reputation as a fearsome pacer.

CSK, well known for tactical brilliance, are smart to add Kamboj to their arsenal. The pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium always favored spinners, however it has evolved to support fast bowlers, making Kamboj’s inclusion a game-changing decision. His raw pace, and ability to swing the ball plus match-winning mindset will give them a new edge in their bowling attack. It is with all this potential, Anshul Kamboj can play the key role for CSK for their future.

2) Noor Ahmed

CSK's newest signing, Afghan left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad, could be a match-winner for the franchise. Picked at ₹10 crore, Noor has the capability and flexibility in his game, which makes him look quite exciting. In two IPL seasons with Gujarat Titans, Noor picked 24 wickets in 23 matches, always keeping an excellent economy rate at 8.04.

He can bowl in all phases of the game, that is, in power play, middle overs, and at the death. Noor was a great performer in the 2023 World Cup, taking 3 wickets against Pakistan at Chepauk, where he has been a real performer on spinning tracks. His stint with Texas Super Kings in MLC 2024 was phenomenal, taking nine wickets in four games.  Noor would be nourished under MSD's guidance during his time in the franchise and his skills would be refined further.

3) Shivam Dube

A star for India and a star for CSK, Shivam Dube was retained by the Ruturaj Gaikwad led team for INR 12 crores. Dube has shown that he is an asset for CSK, and retaining him before the IPL 2025 auction underlines how important the player is to the franchise.

Dube's middle-order left-handed batting can help CSK, which needs that versatility in the dynamic batting lineup. Dube has a history of hitting powerful strokes, particularly against spin, which is precisely what CSK would require.
