Injuries continue to haunt Australian pacer, Josh Hazlewood as the seamer has been ruled out of the Sri Lanka Test tour due to a calf injury. He played the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Series Vs India, but missed out on the second Test.
The lanky pacer took part in the third Test in Gabba, but got injured midway through the match and missed the final two matches at MCG and SCG. Now, with a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka lined up, the Australian side have been jolted with this big injury news.
Not only Australia, but his IPL franchise, RCB will also be sweating hard on his injury. Hence, with the pacer likely to be ruled out, we look at 3 pacers from the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) tournament, who can replace him in the IPL side.
3) Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan has the prior experience of playing in the IPL, but the English pacer wasn't successful in his earlier days. He had represented RCB, CSK, MI and PBKS, but had underwhelming stints with all the teams.
However, Jordan, who plays for Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL has become a better T20 bowler in the last two years. His death bowling exploits have also improved, and could be a good shout if Hazlewood misses out.
2) Lance Morris
One of the quickest bowlers in the BBL circuit at the moment, Lance Morris is an X-Factor and could be a surprise pick for the RCB side.
His base price in the auction was INR 1.25 crore, but there were no suitable buyers as the Aussie quick went unsold. Quality express pacers are a rare commodity and Morris is one of them. If utilised to perfection, he could be a great buy.
1) Jason Behrendorff
Another Aussie pacers who has represented the RCB team in the IPL, Behrendorff is an underrated gem and swings the ball both ways to trouble the batters.
Playing for Perth Scorchers, Behrendorff has done well in the BBL and could be a game-changing signing if Hazlewood gets ruled out and RCB sign the Aussie gem.
