The biggest cricket carnival in the world is now here with the Indian Premier League returning for its 17th edition. The first match of the season will be played between the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 at MA. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

CSK's sitting pretty with five IPL titles under their belt, having clinched the most recent one in the last season. On the other hand, RCB's still waiting for their maiden victory. But despite the lack of silverware, RCB's been breaking records left, right, and centre, setting benchmarks that no other team has even come close to.

Here, we'll explore some of RCB's records that stand unchallenged and likely to remain so:

1. The ex-RCB skipper, Virat Kohli smashed a mind-blowing 973 runs in 2016 IPL season. That record's been standing strong ever since, and honestly, it's looking like it will be untouchable for a long time to come.

2. RCB holds the record for the highest team score against a single opponent in one IPL match, putting up a massive 265 runs against Pune Warriors India back in 2013 IPL season. To date, no other team has managed to surpass this total.

3. We can't talk about records without mentioning Chris Gayle's legendary 175 not out while playing for RCB against Pune Warriors India in the 2013 IPL season. That innings remains the highest individual score in IPL history, and it's still standing strong.

4. RCB might boast about their highest team total record, but let's not overlook their less-than-stellar moment when they got bundled out for a dismal 49 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2017 IPL season. It's definitely not a record they will be bragging about.

5. RCB's got another feather in their cap with Harshal Patel's stunning performance in IPL 2021. He bagged a whopping 32 wickets while playing for RCB, setting a new record for the most wickets taken by a bowler in a single IPL season.

6. RCB's got another standout record with the highest partnership ever seen in the IPL. It was none other than Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers back in 2016, who teamed up for a massive 229-run partnership against Gujarat Lions, a record that still stands tall.

7. Adding to their list of achievements, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru also boast the record for the most 200+ partnerships in IPL history, and what's even more fascinating is that all three of these partnerships featured Virat Kohli.

8. One record that sets RCB apart is the loyalty of their star player, Virat Kohli. Since the beginning of the IPL, he's been donning the RCB jersey, notching up an impressive 237 matches, a milestone no other player has achieved with a single franchise.

9. When it comes to power hitting, no one does it quite like Chris Gayle. He hammered a record-breaking 17 sixes in a single match for RCB against Pune Warriors India, a feat that remains untouched in IPL history.

10. Virat Kohli etched his name in IPL history with an extraordinary century in a 15-over match, a feat unmatched by any other player. This unforgettable innings came during the IPL 2016 season against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), where Kohli smashed his way to 113 runs off 50 balls for RCB.
