The much-awaited IPL 2024 auction concluded on Tuesday, with ten franchises finalising their squad for the upcoming season of the tournament. Regarding Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Faf du Plessis-led side had six slots, which they filled with some quality players during the auction.

RCB's most expensive buy was Alzarri Joseph, whom they got for a hefty amount of INR 11.5 Crores. Besides the West Indian quick, the Royal Challengers also acquired three pacers- Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson and Yash Dayal, along with left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh and Gujarat's top-order batter Saurav Chauhan.

So, before the IPL, let's see what could be RCB's preferred playing XI for the initial games of the tournament.

Top Order- Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar

Since joining Royal Challengers Bangalore, former South African captain Faf du Plessis has formed a formidable opening pair alongside legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli.

So, the dynamic duo will continue to open, with stylish MP batter Rajat Patidar slotted at number three. In ten innings at number three, Patidar has slammed 383 runs at an average of 42.56 and a blistering strike rate of 144.53.

Middle Order- Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik & Mahipal Lomror

Before the IPL mini auction, RCB roped in promising Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a whopping amount of INR 17.5 Crores. So, considering his price tag, we reckon Green will make it into the playing XI, at least in the first few games of the tournament. He might be used as a floater in the batting lineup and could be promoted at some specific entry points.

Ace Australian batter Glenn Maxwell will be trusted for the finisher's role, as he has performed admirably for the franchise. While Dinesh Karthik will bat at number seven, the remaining slot could be filled with an Indian batter, preferably Mahipal Lomror.

Bowlers: Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Siraj, Karn Sharma, Vyshak Vijay Kumar

Mohammed Siraj will lead RCB's pace attack, Alzarri Joseph will assist him with the ball across all three phases of the game.

If, at some stage, Joseph underperforms, he could be replaced by one of Reece Topley, Lockie Ferguson or Tom Curran. Karn Sharma, who scalped ten wickets in the last season. RCB could also follow the matchups, bringing in Mayank Dagar as their impact player in spin-friendly venues.
