The Indian Premier League is considered the biggest T20 franchise league in the world. Over the years, IPL has provided the world with some gun talents who have taken the world cricket by storm.

While the league mainly focuses on fostering Indian talents, other nations have also identified some top-tier talents from this league. One of the countries that has benefitted the most from the tournament other than India has been Australia.

However, in this article, we will look at three Australian stars who might not be a regular part of the IPL team playing XIs during the upcoming edition of the tournament.

3. Nathan Ellis

The Chennai Super Kings bought the Australian pacer for ₹2 Cr during the IPL 2025 auction. Nathan Ellis is known for his exploits in the middle and death phase of a T20 match.

While Ellis is an effective bowler in a game's death phase, CSK already has a match-winner in the same role in their squad. Matheesha Pathirana has established himself as a prime bowler and match-winner for the CSK side, especially with his death-over exploits. With Pathirana in the mix and the four overseas players ruling in play, there are fewer chances that Nathan Ellis will be a regular part of the playing in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

2. Tim David

The Australian big-hitting batter was bought by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 auction for ₹ 3 Cr. Tim David's ability to hit big and change the complexion of any game is something RCB wanted in their lower-order and thus bought him.

However, if RCB looks to fit him in the playing combination, they might fall a bowler short in the side. If they go for Tim David in the XI, their death bowling might take a hit. As a result, Nuwan Thushara or Romario Shepherd could be a better option for the RCB management to include in the playing combination to have better chemistry.

1. Jake Fraser-McGurk

Why Jake Fraser-McGurk Will Not Be A Part Of DC Playing XI?

One of Australia's biggest prodigees is Jake Fraser-McGurk. The young Australian batter has promised a lot in the BBL with his big-hitting abilities in the top order. His exploits earned him a place in the international arena, too. However, the young batter has not lived up to the expectations and is going through a terrible time with the bat.

The fact that the Delhi Capitals bought him for ₹ 9 Cr during the IPL 2025 auction makes a strong case that he will be a part of the playing XI. However, looking at the form he is carrying, there is a chance that the DC management decides to look past him and include someone else in the playing combination.
