Not many Indian cricket fans will be able to forget the dreamy night of 2nd April 2011. MS Dhoni hit a memorable six to take India to a World Cup win after 28 long years. 

While MSD's six has been a symbol of that memorable victory, no one can deny the importance of the current Indian head coach -Gautam Gambhir's knock for the ages in the game. It was an iconic knock by the ex-KKR skipper that made India believe that they could win the game. 

If recent social media rumours are to be believed, then this duo might be back working their magic once more to lead India to another ICC trophy win. 

Recent Social Media Rumours And The Truth

A post has gone viral on social media in the last couple of days stating that MS Dhoni will be back in the Indian dressing room. This time, he will be mentoring the team in the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy (CT 2025). 

Notably, Gautam Gambhir, his teammate from WC 2011, is currently the head coach of India. In fact, it was the Dhoni-Gambhir duo that stitched together a 109-partnership in the summit clash of the tournament to end India's drought of 28 years for a World Cup trophy. Thus, the Indian cricket fans have responded very positively to this rumour, expecting the duo to work their magic again.

However, nothing has been revealed or confirmed from either the five-time IPL-winning skipper or BCCI about this. With the England series coming up, if BCCI wanted Dhoni to play the role, they would have appointed him by now. However, there are chances that they could offer him the post only for the Champions Trophy 2025, but as of now, there is not much truth in this rumour. 

MS Dhoni's Previous Stint As India Mentor

MSD has acted as a mentor of the Indian national team during the T20 World Cup 2021. Although the India legend was known to be a trophy collector as the national captain, his mentorship stint was unsuccessful. It was the first and the only time that India lost a World Cup match to Pakistan and had an early exit from the tournament.
