India have announced their squad for the upcoming home series against England. There are a few big surprises in the squad. 

As India gear to play the series against the English team, there are a few changes made in the side that has surprised the fans. One of the major changes is the shift in the leadership core that has come about with Axar Patel being announced as the vice-captain. Besides this the other big changes in the side are as follows - 

Mohammed Shami Makes A Comeback

The prime Indian pacer, Mohammed Shami was not a part of the Indian side since the ODI World Cup 2023. He missed a lot of action in between to get back his fitness. However, the good news for India in the recent times was Shami up and running and giving some decent performances in the domestic arena. Shami has not only been in good bowling rhythm, he has looked good with the bat, too. So his return not only strengthens the team's bowling but also adds to depth of the team's batting. 

Nitish Reddy And Harshit Rana Are Back

Two of India's rising star - Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana are making a comeback into the T20I side after they missed the last series against South Africa to prepare for BGT 2024-25. 

Kuldeep Yadav is not yet fit to make a comeback. As a result,  Varun Chakrvarthy and Ravi Bishnoi will be India's lead spinners in the series. 

Dhruv Jurel Gets A Go

Dhruv Jurel has been given a chance in the series and he will play the role of the power hitter in the lower middle-order. This could be a great chance for the wicketkeeper batter to perform brilliantly and make a claim for his place in the ODI squad for the England series and then the Champions Trophy 2025.
